For more than a decade, I worked in city government finance — an environment where every penny had to be accounted for, every report had to be accurate, and integrity wasn’t optional, it was the standard. That experience shaped not only my skills, but also my mindset: precision matters, accountability matters, and the way you handle money says a lot about the way you serve people.

Along the way, I earned my Master’s degree in Accounting from Dallas Baptist University, which gave me the technical foundation to understand financial systems inside and out. But more importantly, I discovered how much I love helping others feel confident about their finances. Through simple conversations, I was able to help my mom, who runs a floral arrangement business, gain a clearer snapshot of her financial picture and develop better job costing methods for tracking profitability. Watching how those small shifts gave her peace of mind and improved her business inspired me to do the same for other entrepreneurs.

When I decided to start The Anchored Ledger, I knew I wanted to bring that same level of clarity and empowerment to small business owners. To strengthen my practice, I went on to become a QuickBooks ProAdvisor (Level 1) and earned additional bookkeeping certifications — tools that allow me to pair years of experience with proven systems that keep businesses grounded and growing.

Why do I do this? Because I’ve seen firsthand how stressful disorganized books can be, and how empowering it feels when everything clicks into place.
